BEST eco WEEK 2010 which ran from 20 to 27 March kept a lot of the local residents busy.  There was a Swap It in the Lancaster Hall on the first Saturday, where items were freecycled, which meant people brought, other people took and very little went to landfill, since the volunteers recycled most of what was left at the end.  On the final Saturday, around 90 people were involved with the litter picking, working parties at the Heathfield and Bush Lane woods and tidying up the site at the Evangelical Church; or just making very welcome refreshments for everyone when they'd finished.  Some photos on the right sum it all up.

The Parish Council were delighted that approximately 90 people turned out to assist with the culmination of BEST Week on Saturday 27th March. Many areas of the village were cleared of litter and general untidiness. The two schools helped within their own areas and other organisation helped around the village with many areas such as the Heathfield and Bush Lane receiving special attention.

The Swap Shop was a splendid event to launch the week and gave many people the opportunity to recycle many items which although still perfectly good from ending up in landfill. It was also a good social opportunity for folk from the village to meet and exchange views and ideas about recycling.

We are grateful to the Borough Council for coming along to inform and educate us on the latest recycling themes.The Council also wish to thank Linda Parker-Picken for co-ordinating the whole event and being responsible for bringing together so many people for the benefit of the village.

And Linda would like to help everyone who took part. Same time next year?!
