In April 2011, new adult fitness equipment was launched on Send recreation ground. You can see a demonstration of how the equipment can be used via this link. The recreation ground also houses a tennis court, a ball court, multi-play equipment for younger children and a climbing wall and other equipment for teenagers.
Everyone is enjoying using the new play equipment. There have been lots of lovely comments from parents, grandparents and children. Further plans include a new public toilet and a new path for buggies and bikes, shelter and new planting.
There is another playground for Send Marsh children in Maple Road.
Sports are well catered for within the borough. Guildford Spectrum is one of the largest multi-facility leisure complexes in the UK, providing an Olympic size ice rink, 4 swimming pools, health & fitness facilities, 32 lane ten pin bowling centre, sports arena and athletic stadium. It hosts major national and international sporting events and other cultural activities.
Guildford Lido is an open air lido situated near Guildford town centre. It is heated and well maintained. The Workshop Gym is based at the Lido too. See also the significant climbing centre Craggy Island.
Guildford also boasts the University of Surrey Sports Park. It is one of Europe’s premiere sites for elite sport, physical activity, well-being and leisure. Woking also has a number of excellent facilities - Woking Leisure Centre and Pool in the Park have a range of sports for every age group, For further information on clubs in Woking please look at Woking Sports.
