Meet your Parish Councillors

SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO SEE BRIEF DETAILS OF SOME SEND PARISH COUNCILLORS, STARTING WITH THE CHAIRMAN, JANET MANKTELOW

Janet Manktelow
Janet Manktelow has been resident in the village for 35 years.  She is currently Chairman of Send Parish Council, which she has served on for more than 20 years.  She and is an ex officio member of all committees, with particular interest in planning and finance.
Janet recently retired from being Senior Admin Officer at Send First School, having worked there for 32 years.  She was also until her retirement a Governor at the school, which she found very interesting: “It is a superb school and provides good sound education for the village”.  Janet has been heavily involved in Scouting for 33 years both in the village and in the wider District.
Mark Clover
Mark Clover has lived in Send for 10 years, with his wife and twin sons.  He found getting the boys into George Abbot this year a very stressful experience and feels strongly about St Bedes being a successful school with strong leadership and the possibility of it becoming a feeder school for either George Abbot or Christ College.  Mark runs 2 businesses in the village: a wedding car service and teaching learner drivers.  He helps to run the local Cubs and is on the allotment society and Lancaster Hall committees as well as organising the Christmas lights.  He is very keen to see the refurbishment of the parade and rec continue, and although new houses need to be built, would like to make sure that as many of the beautiful fields remain as possible.
Jill Harris
Jill Harris has lived in Sendmarsh for over 32 years. A town planner, married to architect Michael, they have raised two children and are now loving being grandparents. Involved in many aspects of village life through the decades Jill was co-opted onto the Parish Council after being working on Parish Plan preparation.
Margaret Bruton
Margaret Bruton has lived in Send for 30 years.  She has been a member of the Parish Council for nearly three years and is on the Planning Committees and several working parties.
Margaret taught at the Send First School for 24years.  She was involved in the children’s work in a local church for many years and is now active in different aspects of church life.

Linda Parker-Picken
Linda Parker-Picken (PP for short) has worked as a secretary, pension fund manager, French teacher (from nursery to adult ed) and most recently as a subject manager for the exam board AQA, where she still works as a contractor although she officially retired in 2009.  Originally from Derby, she moved to Send from London in 1986 so she and Norman could raise their 2 children in a “better place”. Linda only joined the Parish Council in May 2011, but previously ran small projects in the village (litter sweeps/ Swap Its/ Guildford Walkfest walks), and worked on the 2006 Parish Plan.  Has a particular interest in the environment and community initiatives.  Linda is on the PC planning committee and keeps the village website updated.
