LOCAL NEWS

Do you use the telephone kiosk outside the parade of shops?  BT are likely to remove it.  Do you think we should keep it (without a phone inside) and find some future use for it, or should it be removed?  To let us know your opinion, Contact Us.

Surrey Police have a Mobile Counter Service Unit which will be situated at Ripley Village Hall/ Green. The Mobile Counter Unit allows you to access the majority of services available at the Police Station front counter and in addition there will also be a local neighbourhood officer available at every session.  The next visit is Sunday 7 August 12.45 to 15.00.  For future dates and more information please visit www.surrey.police.uk

The London-Surrey Cycling Classic race will pass through Ripley on 14 August around 10 am.  For more details and information on road closures and parking restrictions, see www.gosurrey.info

Send Social Club is holding an Open Day on 28 August.  If you might like to become a member, this would be a good opportunity to visit the club.

The Parish Council would like to thank everyone who replied to our questionnaire about a potential Good Neighbour Scheme. The first impressions of the responses are that Send Help is very greatly valued in the village but that many people would also like to help their neighbours in times when conditions are difficult.  A meeting to share ideas on how to get this scheme to work has been planned for 10 October at 7.30 pm in the upper room of the Lancaster Hall.

Send Marsh resident Charlotte Calin will be walking the Inca Trail in April 2012 to raise money for the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity.  This charity provides emotional and practical support in their own homes to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.  Charlotte is a graduate in illustration and you can commission "rainbow" works of art from her for this cause.  You can also sponsor her via www.justgiving.com/Charlotte-Callin or please contact her direct at charlotte.callin86@gmail.com to help her with other money raising ideas or to buy tickets for a charity dinner in September.
