Volunteers

If you have some time available, there are several opportunities to help the community in Send.

Send Help
Send Help volunteers take people from their homes in Send to the Villages Medical Centre and elsewhere.  Duty Officers organise the collection of clients, and volunteers can accept or decline on the basis of their own commitments. If you would like help or want to volunteer as a Duty Officer or volunteer, phone 01483 225255 between 10.00 am and 12.00 noon, Monday to Friday, or collect a leaflet from the Post Office or the Villages Medical centre. Visit the Send Help website for up to date news: www.sendhelp.co.uk

Ripley and Send Matters
Ripley and Send Matters is delivered free to all households in Send four times a year. Delivery normally takes about 1 hour per person. If you are prepared to help, Nick Brook, on 01483 222860 will be pleased to hear from you.

St John Ambulance
St John Ambulance are looking for volunteers to act as Neighbourhood First Responders. For further information, contact Steve Smith on 01483 211279.

Rotary Club
For details of the local Rotary Club, ring Arthur Andrews on 01483 223155 or Peter Heath on 01483 561477.

The annual charity fund raising event needs volunteers to help take Santa round the local area.

Send Family Link
A registered charity providing support and services for families visiting women in custody at HMP Send, with a particular focus on children with a mother in prison. Our aims are to reduce the emotional stress of visiting a loved one in prison and to help families maintain relationships during a prison sentence.

We are in need of volunteers on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons to help run our tea bar in the prison Visits Hall, and to help provide play activities for children visiting the prison. We also need volunteers to help us build our links with the community (e.g. by designing displays), and to help maintain our small garden at the Visitors' Centre, located outside the prison.

For more information contact Alison Drew, Volunteer Co-ordinator, on 01483 471090 or by e-mail at sendfamilylink@btconnect.com.
